Update 22 May

Greetings to the Anchor church family in the name of the risen saviour, Jesus Christ!

The season of Easter is the prime time when the reality of the resurrection of Jesus overwhelms any despondency we may feel and helps us to see God’s ultimate victory and a glorious future for all who believe and put their trust in Jesus. By God’s grace, we see the Covid-19 pandemic receding and we may have hope for normal church life and outreach to resume. After several attempts to hold an Alpha Course, we are aiming to launch one in July to be preceded by a community outreach with the aim to find 10 people ready to find faith in Jesus. More detail about this will be shared soon, but we are kicking off this new season with a sample Alpha Course experience, including a shared lunch on Sunday 26 June. So please make sure you can stay for the whole event, you might even want to invite someone new.

Arohanui, Andrew.

Thanks and congratulations to our synod representative, Desiree Williamson-Lay who was re-elected to the Standing Committee of the synod for a further three-year term. Desiree will present us with a written and verbal report of the synod meeting.
Tax Receipts are available now for recorded giving for the 2021/22 tax year. Thank you all for your generous support. Have you considered assisting our finances by resowing your tax rebate? If we all kept resowing our tax rebates year upon year giving income could increase by almost 50%!
Covid-19 Health and Safety. The parish council is extending the current settings while there is still a serious risk of catching the virus. in short, mask-wearing is advised, but not required, we will observe physical distancing, have communion in bubbles, refrain from serving food and drink, and ensure the room is ventilated.
Post-service refreshments. While there is still some risk from Covid-19, the parish council has decided to refrain from providing morning tea after the service but we do encourage people to gather at Zeroe’s Cafe. We will shout any newcomers a coffee and assist those who can’t afford to join us.
